Ssshhhh.
If you listen carefully, you’ll hear the quick-paced, rhythmic thud, thud, thud of venerable feet on the pavement of your own town or city as Buddhist monks pass through on their Walk for Peace, promoting peace, kindness, compassion, and love.
Starting in Ft. Worth, TX, the walk is scheduled to continue through Georgia, South and North Carolina, and Virginia, culminating in Washington, D.C. at the end of February 2026.

What Can We Do for the Monks?
Along the many stops of their arduous journey, the monks welcome the quiet support of your presence. They ask that those who come to greet them maintain silence or offer a soft greeting, as they meditate during the long walk.

What Can We Offer the Monks?
The monks have asked for no material gifts, as they have already received many. If you feel moved to donate in other ways, you can reach out to their donation coordinator here: donate.

Does Aloka Need a Playdate?
The monks kindly requested that people leave their pets at home when they come out to greet them. This helps ensure that their fur companion, Aloka the Peace Dog, can remain off-leash and undistracted during the walk.
Mostly, though, the monks wish to share their message of love and kindness with all who hear, feel, and embrace their mission.
The Buddhist monks passed through Georgia just as Western cultures were stripping off the old year, preparing to put on the new. To honor their quiet quest for peace and unity, perhaps we, too, can lower the volume.

Let’s drown out the roar of hate and fear from 2025.
Let’s tune out the noise of unsolicited judgments and demands.
Let’s quiet our minds from the stresses of daily life, stresses that mount with each passing day.
Let’s mute the voices, real or imagined, demanding that we resolve to live life bigger, better, leaner, fitter.

The monks remind people that peace starts within, and from there, radiates outward.
Sshhhh, 2026 is still but a whisper. Let’s keep it that way.
